Sowing Seeds Charity Bike Ride

The Seed Farm: Growing New Farmers for the Future!

The Sowing Seeds Charity Bike Ride will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 to help raise funds for the Seed Farm.

The Lehigh Valley has experienced substantial growth in recent years, and as a consequence, the area has experienced a significant loss of farmland. What is needed is a new crop of farmers who can operate profitable farms in a way that protects and enhances the natural resources of the rich farmland we have here in the Lehigh Valley. To protect and preserve our farmland, Lehigh County has created an agricultural incubator project called the Seed Farm, which is helping to train new farmers to establish new sustainable enterprises in the region. The Seed Farm, located on a 25 acre site in Upper Milford Township, will help ensure a source of healthy food for residents and revitalize the economy by facilitating the growth of a vibrant local food system.

Ride lengths: 5, 20, or 40 miles, starting at Jasper Park, Upper Milford Township.
