The Lehigh County Conservation District, in partnership with South Whitehall Township, celebrated EARTH DAY at Covered Bridge Park (2466 Wehr Mill Road). Staff educated the public about the importance of reducing stormwater runoff and non-point source pollution reaching our local waterways.
Volunteers participated in trash clean-up, making improvements to pavilions, cleaning play equipment, planting flowers, and beautifying the park system.
Visit the new pollinator garden that was installed at the park, made possible through grant funding from the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts. The native plants will attract beneficial butterflies, bees, and insects, while allowing stormwater to infiltrate back into the ground.
Thank you for helping protect our Earth! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Laura Hopek, Environmental Educator, at LHopek@LehighConservation.org
