DESCRIPTION:On March 2\, 2023\, the Lehigh County Conservation District\, in partnership with Lehigh County Authority and Penn State Extension\, carried out a Gardens\, Livestock\, and Homesteads Workshop for homeowners that grow their own food and/or have livestock as pets for production. Participants were educated on the importance of keeping nutrients balanced\, minimizing losses\, and maximizing productivity on their land. We want to thank partners and participants for helping us reach our mission in protecting the natural resources throughout the watershed by minimizing pollutants that reach our local waterways.

SUMMARY:Riparian Buffer successfully planted in the Little Lehigh Creek Watershed!
DESCRIPTION:Conservation District staff and community residents planted a riparian buffer at East Buffer Street in Emmaus in September. Staff and volunteers dug holes and planted native trees and shrubs along a tributary to the Little Lehigh Creek. Thank you for helping us improve the water quality of the Little Lehigh Creek Watershed and providing a wonderful habitat for local wildlife. \n \nTree tubes are a barrier method of tree protection that prevents animal browse or harsh\, dry wind from damaging a tree seedling.
