The Lehigh County Conservation District, in partnership with the Penn State Extension, Lehigh County Authority, Upper Macungie Township, Heidelberg Township, Lowhill Township, and Weisenberg Township carried out 4 workshops in 2021 for homeowners about rain barrels and the importance of managing stormwater runoff. Each participant received their FREE rain barrel, accessories, and informational brochures at contactless pick-up events.
Approximately 200 rain barrels have been distributed. If you are interested in obtaining a rain barrel to minimize stormwater runoff and non-point source water pollution reaching our local waterways, contact our Environmental Educator, Laura Hopek, at LHopek@LehighConservation.org
Financial and other support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
