The Lehigh County Conservation District is excited to announce the 2024 Lehigh County ENVIROTHON will be carried out at Covered Bridge Park located in South Whitehall Township. The High School event will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd, and the Middle School event will be held on Thursday, April 25th.

The ENVIROTHON is a FREE environmental education program that combines classroom learning and outdoor activities where students will compete for scholarships and prizes. The event runs from 9am – 2pm. This exposure to nature and seeing how humans impact the natural world provide invaluable lessons for understanding ecosystems and our environment.

Lehigh County public, private, parochial, and home schools are invited to participate in this FREE, outdoor event. Each school may submit a maximum of 3 teams. Each team consists of 5 students and one advisor. Students will rotate through 5 stations focusing on Aquatics, Forestry, Soils, Wildlife, and Current Issue. The 2024 current issue is “Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future.”

To run this event successfully, we need help from the community! If your organization is interested in sponsoring this event, you will receive recognition on all publications and social media regarding this event.

We are in need of volunteers! Volunteers will assist with stations, directions, serving lunch, and miscellaneous duties. Volunteers, students, and advisors will receive a free light breakfast, free hot lunch, and goodies throughout the event (t-shirt, door prizes, etc.)

If you are interested in participating, sponsoring, or volunteering, please contact our Environmental Educator, Laura Hopek at LHopek@LehighConservation.org. We look forward to seeing you at the 2024 ENVIROTHON!
