The Lehigh County Conservation District, local conservationist Sebastian Harris, and the City of Allentown Shade Tree Commission planted 4 oak trees along Ward Street and 15th Street on April 29th to celebrate Arbor Day!
Oak trees are fairly easy to grow and require minimal maintenance. They support a huge amount of moth and butterfly species, in addition to native songbirds. Oaks have a diverse color of fall leaves, and provide a great amount of shade! Their acorns provide food for over 100 wildlife species. We look forward to watching these trees grow and live up to 200 years or more!
