Over 40 runners successfully completed the 5 mile Hellbender Hustle around Leaser Lake on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Beautiful weather, meadows full of goldenrod, the reflection of the lake, and an audience that included local wildlife made for a perfect morning outdoors. The focus of the event was geared toward Pennsylvania’s State Amphibian, the Eastern Hellbender, and the benefits of spending time in nature.

9 youth excitedly participated in the opening event: the Dragonfly Dash, which was a 100 yard sprint through grassy fields, colorful streamers, and bubbles. The top 3 dashers received a free pair of sneakers up to $100 at Keystone Running Store.

We thank all staff, volunteers, and local sponsors who helped make this event possible. Top runners received tickets to the Lehigh Valley Zoo, the DaVinci Science Center, and the Velodrome, and gift cards were donated by Keystone Running Store and Emmaus Run Inn.

We look forward to seeing you at our 2024 event!
